Geography
In Infant classes the focus is on finding out about the immediate environment and beginning to make comparisons with the wider world.
Junior children study rivers, the weather, settlements and environmental change in addition to learning about maps and developing a sense of local, national and world locations. All children are made aware of environmental issues.

History
We are indulged here at Pucklechurch with so much history on our doorstep! This is the village where a Saxon king - Edmund - was murdered in 946AD. The Battle of Dyrham, fought between a tribe of local Britons and some invading Saxons took place in 577AD. Our local history topics in Key stages 1 and 2 are therefore really exciting. We start in Key Stage 1 with learning the skills of chronology and the language associated with the passing of time. We begin by looking at our own past and the past of our local community. In Key Stage 2 we look at a variety of periods of history from the Ancient Egyptians up to Britain since 1945, where children have the opportunity to extend their knowledge and understanding of social history.
