Fireworks Evening

Many thanks to everyone who braved the elements and joined us, at Marsh Farm, for a very successful evening on Saturday. A huge thanks to Darren Packer, Sarah Packer and Julie Gibbs for organizing the event and to all those who volunteered to help out in all areas. A very special thank you to the children of Year 5 and 6 who also gave up their time to help and Mike Walker for selling tickets in his shop. Also a big thank you to the staff of HMP YOI Ashfield who held a non-uniform day in support of Firework night and raised a huge £230.00! Once again we are indebted to Chris Simpson who let us use his field and also to the brave souls manning the barbeque who kept on cooking despite the fact that the fireworks were getting closer and closer!! We hope everyone who attended had an enjoyable evening.

Christmas meal at the Star

Congratulations to Sarah Frankcom, Trudi Adams and Sharon Venning who organised a Christmas meal at the Star just before Christmas. It was a really fun evening (apart from some dubious carol singing!!) and, thanks to generous donations to an impressive raffle, a whopping £205 was raised.

Annual School Fete

The annual school fete was held on 26th May. The Sunshine Clowns were in attendance and brought the fine weather with them! There was a wonderful array of stalls and live music was provided by the Youth Band of Chipping Sodbury School. The event raised £1900 for the school.

Auction

The recent auction of donations, goods and services was a great night out for all the family. Auction items ranged from pads of paper and sellotape to portable televisions, offer of babysitting and an original painting from a local artist. The auctioneer was entertaining, the children enjoyed joining in, and their parents went home with lighter wallets than when they arrived! A very successful evening, raising over £800 for the school.

Cake Sale

A massive thank you to everyone who supported the sale, whether through the donation of cakes, helping on the day and of course, buying. We are delighted to inform you that we raised over £69, all of which goes directly to the school - thank you!

Clothes Sale

Thanks to all who bought or donated uniform for the sale last month. The sale raised £21.50 for school funds, which was brilliant. There will be another 2nd hand uniform sale in the new year.

Murder, Mystery and....Fancy Dress!!

Saturday 24th April saw the school play host to a Murder Mystery evening. This is the second event of this type we've organised, but the mystery on this particular occasion was penned by one of own members. Although not as many would be detectives joined in as we would have liked, everyone who did attend had a thoroughly enjoyable time trying to track down the murderer. The scene was set in the 1950s in a run-down country house in the Lakes, during a huntin' shootin' and fishing weekend. Many of the participants took up the challenge of dressing in period and in keeping with the theme, much to everyone's amusement. There were obviously enough red herrings to throw the best amateur sleuth off the scent as despite only four teams, we were presented with 11 separate solutions - only two of the groups spotting the murderer! The tie was broken by judging the explanation of events against those presented by the author. Our winners were very happy to receive they're very own Murder Mystery Champions 2004 plaque.....or at least they said they were!!

*This event is easy to run at home - perhaps at a dinner party with friends. Copies of our very own murder mystery "Unhappy Families" can be purchased via the PSA committee.*
