Church Links

CE VC means that we are a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school. We have four church foundation governors and we have a denominational inspection as well as a lay OFSTED inspection. We have strong links with St. Thomas a Becket Church in Pucklechurch.

We hope that the education we offer will form a foundation for children to be open, positive and knowledgeable towards the Christian faith. However, we are careful to be respectful and sensitive to children, parents or staff who may not share the Church of England's beliefs.

Actions speak louder than words and both the church and state inspectors note that children and staff at Pucklechurch School demonstrate key Christian values such as:

  • Respect
  • Kindness
  • Tolerance
  • Use of Talents
  • Equality before God
  • Positive regard to Worship

We intend to build on this foundation and strengthen links between the school, parents and the church.

Our parish church St Thomas a Becket donated an oak cross and table for use during school worship. The cross was blessed by our vicar Rev Stuart Young in front of a full school assembly. The ceremony was attended by (L-R) Richard Westacott (Chair of Deanery Synod), James Gardner (Chair of Governors), Rev Stuart Young, Maggie Cook (Head teacher), Rosaline Trueman (Parish Reader), Sue Thomas (Church Warden), Trevor Trueman (Church Warden)
