Science Lesson in Mangotsfield
Recently, all of year 5 went to Mangotsfield Secondary School for a science lesson. It was really fun and exciting. We had to see what happened to different substances such as butter, sugar and calcium carbonate. For example, when Missy, Shaynie and I heated the sugar in a test tube it turned into gorgeous smelling caramel. We are going back next year for another lesson. Yippee! Macey, Nightingales

We looked at reversible and irreversible reactions. My favourite part was heating the chemicals on the Bunsen burner. Georgia

It was really cool when we used the Bunsen burners to heat the sugar because it turned into caramel. I wanted to eat it but we weren’t allowed to. I didn’t mind though because we ate popcorn at the end! Suzie, Nightingales

When Shaynie and I heated an egg, it turned into hot smelling scrambled egg. I could have just eaten it! We had a lovely day and it was worth going! Missy, Nightingales
