Cilfynydd Environmental Education Centre

On Tuesday 19th October, year 5 and 6 visited a Welsh Water waste water treatment works and became hydrologists and ecologists for the day! They learnt how to assess how much pollution is in a river and discovered that a river's fastest flow is in the middle. They also discovered more about our use of water.

Did you know that … On average, we use 150 litres of water a day, most of which is used when flushing the toilet
Only 3% of the world's water is freshwater of which only one third is available to drink - the rest is frozen in ice caps or is soaked into the ground when it rains.
It takes 2279 litres of water to make a quarter pounder beef burger
